I think part of what helps is that the issue is a lot less prominent in Fates as compared to all the screenshots that I've seen of Awakening where it's happening constantly (though I've been hacking Fates since forever and haven't actually gotten around to playing Awakening for myself. Personally speaking, I don't mind the shadows or ghosts that much since most of the time it's usually not something very readily noticeable in my opinion (again, unless fighting in the Bottomless Canyon or something, where ghosts in particular will bloom all around your characters lol) and most of the time in the cutscenes I don't recall seeing the weird shadows as much because the ground textures are typically irregular or darkly-colored enough to cover it up, or the camera doesn't get low enough to see the ground in the first place or whatever. Lol, I don't use the unofficial builds so I can't say if there is one that gets rid of the ghosts. You just have to save more often.Īll in all, it works pretty well! Citra's been handling all of these games very well lately, it makes me ridiculously happy when I'm testing my Fates Randomizer ROMs, haha. The unfortunate thing is that Fates is affected by the "pipe3" bug where you have to save and restart Citra after every single reclass or visit to My Room that you do, because the bug will freeze Citra if you try to go on with the game afterwards, but it's not an incredibly major thing that will destroy hours of progress unless you're careless about it. So you can have your cutscenes and enjoy them, too, all at awesome resolution!

You can play at "Auto" resolution and still get near-full speed on a crappy laptop like mine (with only half of the necessary processing power to play Citra in CPU rendering mode) thanks to the new GPU update.

I play on Citra almost exclusively for Fates, so I can say with confidence that Fates runs very well now compared to how it did a year or two ago.
